Flocculants are a substance which promote the clumping of fine particles into a floc. The floc may then float to the top of the liquid (flotation), settle to the bottom of the liquid (sedimentation), or be readily filtered from the liquid. Flocculants have applications across many industries. This includes civil engineering and earth sciences, biotechnology. At OAN, our Flocculants are mainly supplied to the water treatment industry. Our polymers are available in solid form.

Flocculation is the step where destabilized colloidal particles (or the particles formed during the coagulation step) are assembled into aggregates and can then be efficiently separated from the water medium. Flocculants clarify water by combining with suspended solids, in such a way as to enable these particles to be quickly and easily separated from the water.

The Flocculants manufactured by OAN are based on Polyacrylamide Copolymers providing the complete range of ionicities and molecular weights necessary to meet optimal performance for each applications.

Advantages:

  • Reduced costs and improved operational efficiency.
  • Reduced reagent consumption – clean water for recycling to flotation plant reduces reagent dosages.
  • Improved mineral recovery – concentrated rock slurry for shipping to phosphoric acid reactor.
  • Easier regulatory compliance – clean water for environmentally friendly releases.
